Course objectives:<\/h3>\n

The aim of the course is to introduce social work with children and families. Students will be acquainted with the system of social and legal protection of children in the Czech Republic, social services for families and children and typical methods for social work with these target groups (case study, task-oriented approach, communication box, assessment of the situation of the child etc.).<\/p>\n

Students will get familiar with the historical context and current trends in this area of social work. Visits and discussions with social workers focusing on children and family will be part of the course.<\/p>\n

        Course objectives:<\/h3>\n

        The course focuses on one of the basic tools of social work – contact. The aim is to make students familiar with the concept and essence of contact in social work, to show its specificity and help to reflect the specificity and limits of the relationship, its actors (social worker and client) and the importance of their context. More specifically, the course will focus on contact in low-threshold services. Emphasis will be placed on teaching through case histories drawing from social workers’ practice. Important parts of the course are visits in low-threshold services and involvement in their activities.<\/p>\n

              The course focuses on understanding the basic principles of qualitative and quantitative methodology as well as the principles of preparation and implementation of a research project.
